"Update Your Blog!"
12:48 am Bed.
The other day I was in the family room with Kaitlyn when she let out a noise that was something between a scream and a groan.
"You need..." she said through gritted teeth, glaring at me over the lap top, "...to...update...your...BLOG."
I rolled my eyes and sank back into the couch.
"Blog about what? Nothing exciting is happening in my life."
"Blog about me!" she said, her eyes no longer bulging out of her head.
So I thought about doing that, and then I thought of a much more interesting topic.
ME.
The truth is, I haven't been blogging because my life is boring. Now, life in college wasn't exactly a thrill ride every second (I had to go to class sometimes), but when I was in Boston I like to think I found a way to make my mundane life sound a little more exciting. Making a boring life blog-worthy is way harder.
Bear with me, people.

"Stand By Me."
11:48 pm :)
Need a pick me up? We watched the DVD that this clip is a part of the other night at Matt's house, and I was so inspired. It was like my whole world just shifted and everything was put into perspective. Check out the link to their website for more details.

"Highly Educated"
4:53 pm This weather needs to stop.
Sooo... I've got a HUGE interview Monday. I mean, HUGE. In light of that, Maria sent me this e-card:

She's so wise...

"The Hangover"
12:00 am Midnight! Woo hoo!
I just saw this movie tonight, and it was AWESOME. Not only did I see the movie with four guys, which made me feel...well...like a pimp, but I was laughing through the entire movie.
I'm not sure exactly what Dad has planned for Stephen's bachelor party this Saturday, but I hope it's not like this...
I'm scared...

"Tara's Commencement Speech"
1:15 pm I'm going to regret doing this...
Here it is, folks. Kaitlyn and Dad figured out how to get my commencement speech from the DVD to Youtube, so now the whole world can hear my brilliant speech.
Or you can watch it on Youtube here.
Be sure to watch for the earring drop at 2:14. You can even freeze frame it if you want...

Tara

"Look of Horror"
12:45 am Bed.
You never know the biggest day of your life is the biggest day. Not until it's happening. You don't recognize the biggest day of your life until you're right in the middle of it. The day you commit to someone or something. The day you get your heart broken. The day you meet your soul mate. The day you realize there's not enough time, because you want to live forever. Those are the biggest days. The perfect days. You know? - Grey's Anatomy
I wouldn't call today the biggest day of my life. Well, at least, I don't think it was. But I thought of this quote when I was sitting on the couch this evening, listening to my friends talk. You never know a normal day is suddenly going to turn into a great day until it happens. I love it when that happens.
There was nothing particularly special about tonight. I woke up from my afternoon nap (unpacking wears me out.... yes, I'm still unpacking) with a text from Mike requesting that we watch "Baby Mama" tonight. At last week's movie night, "Baby Mama" had lost out to "Roxanne," so this week was my chance to prove to everyone how hilarious "Baby Mama" truly is. Greg, Mike, and Mike all came over for the viewing, and I made a bowl of regular butter popcorn and a bowl of kettle corn, so everyone was happy. Kaitlyn and Mom watched the movie too, and it was all super cute.
When the movie was over and Kaitlyn had gone to bed and one of the Mikes had left, Mike (the one who stayed) asked me if he could watch my commencement speech ("Or at least read it to us or something!"). Conveniently (or not), the DVD of the ceremony had come in the mail that day, so I gave in and let the boys watch it. Being the truly supportive friends that they are, they doubled over and laughed hysterically when my earring fell out, even making me rewind so they could watch what Mike calls the "look of horror" on my face over again.
After they managed to contain themselves, we sat around (Me, my mom, Greg, and Mike) chatting. Mom and Greg swapped UCONN stories, and Greg learned about the legend of "Mental Mike." We talked about high school journalism classes and Greg's mom's kidney stones and dental school and anything else you could imagine. It was all really kind of touching and nice.
Later, when I was saying goodbye to the boys at the door, I couldn't help but feel...grateful. Six months ago, I had a very different picture of how my life would be when I graduated, and I've been struggling to deal with that. But you can't really complain about friends and movies and popcorn and conversation and laughter, can you?
You never know when you're going to have an awesome evening. It just happens...
At the end of the day, faith is a funny thing. It turns up when you don't really expect it. It's like one day you realize that the fairy tale may be slightly different than you dreamed. The castle, well, it may not be a castle. And it's not so important, happily ever after, just that it's happily right now. See, once in a while, once in a blue moon, people will surprise you. And, once in a while, people may even take your breath away. - Grey's Anatomy
